FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR: "I AINT BACKPEDALLING AT ALL"

By Percy Crawford | April 04, 2011
FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR:

"Man, listen here man, I ain't backpeddling at all. I called you about him saying I must be jealous of Freddie Roach...He implied that I was jealous of Freddie Roach. He needs to understand the definition of imply before he tries to educate people...You see he ain't address the Freddie Roach stuff...The only thing I said to him about Pacquiao is the truth will come to the light, but he insists on talking about that," stated world-class trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr., who addressed some recent stories in the media about him. You don't want to miss what else he had to say.

PC: What's good Big Floyd? You know, I finally found out the reporter you were telling me about the last time we talked. He contacted me.

FM: I'm good, man. He did?

PC: Yeah, I know who the guy is. He even wrote a follow-up story about it and said I allegedly didn't know who wrote it, trying to make it sound like I knew it was him (laughing). The funny thing is I don't read his work, have never read his work, and don't really care to read his work, so how would I have known it was him (laughing)? I wouldn't even know where to find his work. He's supposed to be the owner of one site, and yet writes for another (laughing). I'm guessing that maybe what he does is get an interview with someone like you and then writes multiple stories about it, adding in his own personal opinions and thoughts to spin it however he likes. Then he puts the stories out on multiple sites, I guess.

FM: So the guy I called you about wrote something about the interview we did?

PC: Yeah, a couple actually (laughing). He's basically saying you implied several times that Pacquiao was on steroids, but now you're backpedalling to clear your name.

FM: Man, listen here man, I ain't backpeddling at all. I called you about him saying I must be jealous of Freddie Roach and all of this shit. That sure as hell didn't come out of my damn mouth. He implied that I was jealous of Freddie Roach. He needs to understand the definition of "imply" before he tries to educate people on what the fuck the word means. You see he ain't address the Freddie Roach stuff; that's because that's all shit he added in after we got off the phone. He knows it. The only thing I said to him about Pacquiao is the truth will come to the light, but he insists on talking about that, which lets me know he's only trying to start shit. He won't mention the shit about Roach and Wild Card though. He said I take every chance I get to take shots at Wild Card Gym, but just listen to the tape.

PC: I have actually and all I heard was him saying, "So what you are saying is you would rather not fight anyone from Wild Card Gym." And you said...

FM: (Cutting in) And I said, "Yeah!" That was it. He said that shit. I was answering his own damn questions about Khan and Pacquiao. He asked and I answered, but they showed me in the article where he tried to twist it like I was the one obsessed and bringing it up. And then he throws in there how he's been to Wild Card several times, but he never seen anyone using steroids. This man is crazy, man. What, they supposed to call him and show him? Is he that important? He tried to make it sound like Roach makes all this kind of money, so I must be jealous and all of this shit. That ain't got shit to do with what we talked about during the interview. He implying that I'm jealous of Roach and that Roach makes more money than me, but fact is we both make more money than his ass.

PC: He also said in one of his articles that we let you make a fool out of yourself by allowing you to come on record and reply to his story that attempted to shed you in a certain light. If you ask me, the guy seems like he's fixated on this lawsuit and steroid stuff; almost like he's hoping to build his name off of it. I mean, he goes out of his way to point out how many times you supposedly accuse Pacquiao of taking steroids in some of your interviews with him.

FM: Man, look, I listened to the damn recording and when he asked me about the Mosley fight, all I said was, "I'm going to pick the guy that ain't got caught cheating." Now has Pacquiao been caught cheating?

PC: No.

FM: Well there you go then. If you've been caught cheating on your wife several times, and Joe Blow hasn't been caught, if someone asks me, "who do you think will stay married longer, Percy or Joe Blow," I'm going to say, "Give me the one that hasn't been caught cheating." Now that's not to say Joe Blow has cheated or not, but he hasn't been caught, so I'm going to go with him. Man, this guy has no clue. He just trying to get shit started, but that's okay; you keep doing what you doing because at the end of the day, we gonna keep it moving. He obviously don't have shit going on. He still talking about this shit and we did that interview awhile back.

PC: Some people just hope to make themselves bigger than the sport. That's why I prefer to type word for word what is said, so I don't twist the perception of fans by adding in my own thoughts or opinions. I like to let them draw their own conclusions instead of telling them what to think.

FM: Don't even worry about it, man. You do a great job at what you do; people like him will fall by the wayside. You can't do anything about something that's out of your control. Keep doing your thing my man.

PC: I appreciate it Big Floyd. You do the same and hit me up anytime as always. We'll always give you an opportunity to say what you gotta say.

FM: Alright Percy, take care now.
