"There's not too many more fights on the horizon. Each and every fight I have is very important, so I have to make sure that when I leave the fight, there's no regrets. So when I go out there, I'm going to give 100% and I'm going to give them everything and the fans, people, everybody around the world can expect, like I said, a great, tremendous fight coming from Shane Mosley," stated three-division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley, who earlier today held an international conference call to promote his upcoming May 7th showdown with Manny Pacquiao. Check out what he had to say about the fight, Manny Pacquiao, and much more less than 12 days away from the highly-anticipated showdown.
SHANE MOSLEY:
On the fight...
"I'm happy to be in this position; to be able to fight and make history. I'm excited about the fight on May 7th, Showtime, and I'm sure it's going to be very explosive. I trained very hard and I'm just ready to go."
"Training camp has been going very good. I'm expecting a lot of fireworks and I'm expecting a great fight. I'm expecting to be able to control the fight and be victorious."
On why he's able to keep getting big fights...
"People, they see my power and they know that it's going to be an exciting fight. They think that that's pretty much what it is; if they can get past the power, then they can win the fight. And the fans, you know, choose to see knockouts. They want to see people that have good power. They want to see some kind of risk being taken. This fight is very risky for Manny Pacquiao, to fight somebody like myself, so when you get that, then you get a lot of people who want to see what's going to happen. Is Manny going to get knocked out or is Manny going to knock Shane out. What's going to happen?"
On whether or not he has the speed to compete with Pacquiao...
"Well, I look at different fights. I look at the Margarito fight and I notice that Margarito landed the most punches ever on Manny Pacquiao. Margarito landed the most punches EVER on Manny Pacquiao. Margarito couldn't land punches on me, so if Margarito is fast enough to land punches on Manny Pacquiao, then I know that I'm fast enough to land punches on Manny Pacquiao."
On his performances against Mayweather and Mora...
"If it wasn't for those two fights, I probably wouldn't be here fighting Manny Pacquiao today, so those fights were needed."
On being the underdog...
"I don't care that they're saying that I'm the underdog or not. It doesn't really matter. What matters is what happens in the ring."
On the importance of this fight...
"There's not too many more fights on the horizon. Each and every fight I have is very important, so I have to make sure that when I leave the fight, there's no regrets. So when I go out there, I'm going to give 100% and I'm going to give them everything and the fans, people, everybody around the world can expect, like I said, a great, tremendous fight coming from Shane Mosley."
