"This fight with Mosley, you know, it's the kind of fight that is better than Margarito because Mosley moves fast and has foot speed and power also. I mean, that's what I want. He throws a lot of punches and it's good for us to give a good fight...If the knockout comes, it will come and I'm excited for that. What my concern right now is, you know, the fight we can give to the people and to the fans. I want them to be happy and satisfied with our performance," stated pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao as he spoke to the media during an international conference call to promote his upcoming May 7th showdown with "Sugar" Shane Mosley. Always concerned about others, Pacquiao is eager to please fans with his action-packed fights and he's looking forward to putting on a better performance than Mayweather did against Mosley nearly a year ago. Check out what else he had to say about the fight, Shane Mosley, and much more.
MANNY PACQUIAO:
On Shane Mosley...
"Shane Mosley is still strong and he moves like he's 29 years old, 30 years old, and he's the kind of fighter that you cannot underestimate. You know, he's a bigger size. He's bigger than me and stronger and of course he's a former pound-for-pound and still good."
On being involved in so many different activities...
"That's my life, to, you know, keep busy. I like to do a lot of things in my life, especially to motivate myself."
"I'm happy in doing what I did. If I'm not happy, I don't do the things, but I'm happy with what I'm doing."
On this fight compared to his fight with Margarito...
"This fight with Mosley, you know, it's the kind of fight that is better than Margarito because Mosley moves fast and has foot speed and power also. I mean, that's what I want. He throws a lot of punches and it's good for us to give a good fight."
On why he's excited for this fight...
"I'm excited for this fight because Mosley throws a lot of punches and he wants to fight toe to toe. Mosley, he beat De La Hoya and he's a former pound-for-pound."
On what he expects from Mosley come May 7th...
"We studied hard for this training camp and we applied different techiniques; different to how his style is going to be in the ring and, you know, I'm ready to fight. I can adjust right away in the ring whatever his style is."
On becoming the first to stop Mosley...
"We're not really, you know, focused for the knockout. What we do is just work hard and if the knockout comes, it will come. We prepared ourselves that we're fighting 12 rounds."
"If the knockout comes, it will come and I'm excited for that. What my concern right now is, you know, the fight we can give to the people and to the fans. I want them to be happy and satisfied with our performance."
On why training camp has gone so well...
"I was just excited to get back to the ring and train hard for the fight and fight good and give my best."
"After the Margarito fight, I rested; totally no training in the gym. No boxing gym. I focused on my job and that's why when I came back to train, I'm hungry and motivated to train hard and focus on the fight."
"I'm hungry, excited, and motivated to train hard because I missed boxing."
On appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live...
"I like Jimmy Kimmel and I'm having fun with him."
On Floyd Mayweather...
"It's hard to judge him, but, you know, I don't know what is the reason. I really have no idea. I can't say something about him. If he really don't want to fight or something's wrong, you know, we don't know. It's hard to judge him."
"If I don't fight for one year, I would stop boxing."
"I don't know if he wants to fight me. I don't have an idea why or what the reason, but the thing is, when I say maybe he's waiting for me to get old, you know, I'm just kidding on that time when I said that."
On whether or not he thinks he has to put on a better performance than Mayweather...
"I train hard; I think so. Yeah, that's what I want to do, and give a good fight."
On his career and what he's accomplished...
"When I think about what I have accomplished in boxing, I'm amazed at what I have done in boxing. It's more than what I dreamed."
"It's because of my hard work."
On what motivates him...
"God, my family, and the whole Philippine people. And of course the boxing fans. I mean, I always motivate myself because this is my job and I have to train hard and work hard. I love to work hard."
